Look beyond the vanity mirror...

I wish I could effectively explain how I am feeling but I don't even know my self. I lost my stride after hearing from surgeons office that they just sent my claim in Tuesday afternoon. I knew I wouldn't see surgery for at least 4 weeks and through the pre op diet out. I ate pizza, bread sticks, a cheese steak and fries, hot wings( fried) and fried shrimp and crap poppers and a beer. Needless to say I'm sick and an emotional wreck today. I am back on the diet but disgusted with myself and physically sick from all the crap I ate. My body was in the adjustment of not eating that garbage. So essentially I poisoned my body. Although I'm back on track today, my motivation and outlook has little to be desired. I feel very sad and confused and beginning to second guess my choice in surgeries. The more and more research I do, the more concerned I get..,this where I scare myself. I'm not concerned so much about the complications and risks as I am about the rate in which you lose weight with each surgery I considered. The only surgeries I considered were the bi pass and the vertical sleeve. So we all know I chose the vertical sleeve. The reason I did was because there are less complications, risk and need for further surgeries. I took the weight loss speed at little thought because the percentage was a matter of a2% difference per months Seems low? Well not when you are getting your percentages from morbidly obese people. So here it goes. I need to lose 165 lbs and statistically I will lose 64.7lbs of that in first 6 months compared to 87.5 with the bi pass So that's would be approximately a 23 lb more weight loss and with the vertical sleeve wight loss slows down dramatically at that point where at with the bi pass many lose up to 80% of total weight in first year. With the vertical sleeve it could take 2years or more. Logically you would go with the vertical sleeve because even though it takes longer, statistically less problems and less likely to put back on. See the facts:http://www.nationalbariatriclink.org/about-gastric-sleeve.html
But I let my brain go to vanity and started thinking losing it faster would be better, I don't want to "weight" 2 years. But thank God even writing today's blog and retreading post surgery facts and risks between the 2 procedures, I have come to my senses. For me the GVS( Gasterric vertical sleeve) is the best choice. Just to many risks verses the weight loss speed. I've been fat for many years now and taking a little longer and avoiding majoring complications and risks outweighs speedy weight loss. On the bright side, I won't have to buy a new size every week. Lol
I haven't even had surgery yet and the decisions and anxiety that go on even before are very hard. So be sure you a tough Ole broad like me before venturing into this life changing and life saving procedure. Much love for you and myself. God bless y'all and thanks for supporting through this weighty decision. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/VSG/

From what I've seen and heard from my friends that went to school for personal training and such, the people who do the bypass surgery have a hard time keeping it off...and I would think it's even harder on your body to adjust. It's a marathon not a sprint...I love you.
